Victorian Fashions at Beekman House
If you think panty hose are a hassle how would you like to deal with corsets and bustles? On Saturday, September 15, Historic
Jacksonville, Inc. will be highlighting Victorian Era fashions and including clothing from the Southern Oregon Historical Society collection as part of our Victorian Days tours at Jacksonville’s 1873 Beekman House Museum!
One-hour tours will begin every 15 minutes between 11am and 3pm with docents costumed in Victorian fashions that would have been appropriate for typical activities in each room of the house. Docents will share information on their particular clothing style, its evolution, and the SOHS garments being showcased.
Styles include fashions appropriate for social calls, travel, daytime activities, formal dinners, mourning, country outings, servants, undergarments, and
more. Items from the SOHS collection include not only Beekman family garments, but also selections from other prominent Rogue Valley families.
The Beekman House Museum is located at 470 E. California Street in Jacksonville. Tour admission is $5. For additional information, contact 541-245-3650 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
