Contrast Victorian medical practices with current health information on this special themed tour at the 1873 Cornelius C. Beekman House on Saturday, July 12.
This popular Jacksonville attraction, located at 470 E. California Street in Jacksonville, was home to one of the region’s most prominent pioneer families, and remains completely furnished with family artifacts.
The “Victorian Medical Practices” event is one in a series of planned for the Beekman House this summer. There will be themed tours on the 2nd Saturdays of each month running through September. This tour is part of History Saturdays, the second Saturdays of June – September.
Begin your day at 10 am with a guided tour of Jacksonville’s Historic Pioneer Cemetery.
Then stop by Cornelius Beekman’s Bank at the corner of California and North 3rd streets where over $40 million in gold crossed the counters during Jacksonville’s heyday. Meet at the back door for guided behind-the-counter tours at 11:15 am, 12:15 pm, 1:15 pm, and 2:15 pm. Admission: $2.
Tour the Cornelius Beekman House at 470 E. California Street between 11am and 4pm and view the late 1800s through the lens of the Cornelius Beekman family and Jacksonville. The Beekmans were one of the most prominent and wealthiest of Jacksonville’s pioneer families. The house was owned and occupied by only the one family and remains completely furnished with family artifacts. These theme tours explore a different aspect of life in the Victorian Age each month—architecture, travel, music and literature, hobbies and crafts, medicine, and more! Tours leave approximately every 15 to 20 minutes and last about 45 minutes. Admission: $5, adults; $3, seniors and children aged 6-12.
Private tours of the Beekman House and the historic Beekman Bank can also be arranged for groups of 10 to 30 individuals on mutually agreed upon dates. The C.C. Beekman House is located at 470 E.
