Historic Jacksonville is excited to introduce evening candlelit tours that will let the public explore the “Secrets & Mysteries of the Beekman Bank”–the oldest financial institution in the Pacific Northwest. During Jacksonville’s heyday in the late 1800s, it saw over $40 million in gold cross its counters, equivalent to almost $1 billion today!
When Cornelius C. Beekman died in 1915, the bank, located at 110 W. California Street in Jacksonville, was closed and locked. Per his will, it has been preserved as a museum ever since. Regional historian Ben Truwe pursues secrets lost with the last Beekman family member in these tours.
