Beekman House Victorian Medical Practices Tour

Victorian Mourning Rituals tour at Beekman House October 20 & 21 from 11 am to 3 pm.  Take a glimpse into different aspects of how people dealt with death and burial during the the late 1800s –  everything from what they wore and how they decorated their homes, to social etiquette and personal mementos of the dearly departed.

Historic Jacksonville, Inc. hosts Victorian Days at Jacksonville’s 1873 Beekman House Museum, located at 470 E. California Street.

One-hour house tours begin every 15 minutes with costumed docents sharing information on local health care available in the late 1800s, Beekman health issues and “cures,” and sanitation measures the family adopted.  Admission: $5, adults; $3, seniors/students.
